Great to see some imagery we shot for the boys at Trick Dog bar in San Francisco being put to good use. Travel and Leisure’s current issue showcases the best bars and nightspots across the globe. Wow a lot happens when ones work takes them on the road for 5-6 weeks!! Having left the Bay area Thanksgiving week with kid’s in tow for a working trip to Boulder and a side trip to Vail for skiing practice. Then immediately heading downunder to drop the kid’s and u-turning back up to Bali to finish a huge hotel assignment for Double Six Luxury Hotel, we find ourselves back in SF minus our two favourite local food haunts, namely Chez Papa in Potrero Hill, and Local’s Corner in the Mission right by our studio. Having become very friendly with Timmy, Chef de Cuisine at Local’s Corner after recently photographing him shortly before leaving; returning home to find both he and the restaurant gone was a sad day indeed. Wishing you all the best Timmy in your new ventures in Seattle. Take a moment to read the following article on the “demise of Local’s Corner”. Disappointing to read, but urban change and revitalization are a part of life.

This year has seen an extension on our personal project entitled “Mission Statement”, we look forward to many more portraits of the unique inhabitants of our studio neighborhood. Matt Dick was our last subject and this is a huge shout to him to say thanks for being so accommodating. In our spare time we have been immersed producing a new personal series entitled “Mission Statement”, where we are exploring the faces, characters and business entities in our neighborhood, a district changing at a rapid rate. One of our first stops was to visit the lads at Trick Dog.
We dropped by for a quick weekend scout, daughters in tow, proposed a few angles to the lads and then returned a couple of days later to craft some portraits.
I always find it great to look back on scout shots and see were we managed to take those in initial thoughts on location and angles when infused with light, color and characters.
A big thanks to Scott Baird, Josh Harris AKA The Bon Vivants and Morgan Schick for being our stars. Great to meet you guys and it has been great finding a new watering hole. See you again soon.
